JOHN M. LEITER

John Leiter is originally from the Atlanta, Georgia area. He attended Emory University (B.A., 1973) and University of South Carolina Law School (J.D., 1978). He has practiced law in South Carolina for 40+ years.

He is admitted to practice law in Georgia, South Carolina, U.S. District Court, Northern District of Georgia, U.S. Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit; 1984, U.S. District Court, District of South Carolina and U.S. Court of Appeals, Fourth Circuit; 1986, U.S. Supreme Court.

John is a member of the American Bar Association, South Carolina Bar, Horry County Bar (Past President, 1995)

John’s career has concentrated in the area of complex civil litigation, including products liability, business torts, intellectual property, corporate, business, personal injury, employment litigation, and trial and appellate practice

John successfully completed 40 hours of Rule 31 Civil Mediation Training at Lipscomb University, Institute for Conflict Management, Nashville, Tennessee (2018). He has conducted more than 80 mediation sessions and participated in hundreds of mediation sessions during his legal career.

John is on the Board of the Myrtle Beach Housing Authority and is past president of the Myrtle Beach Rotary Club.

He is married to Mary Clayton Leiter and together, they have three children: Jonathan, Elizabeth and Kristin.
